Arpan Thanawala, FIA, FIAI has more than 30 years’ worth of experience in the actuarial domain. He started his career at William M. Mercer in London in 1989. He qualified as a pension actuary in 1994 and thereafter gained invaluable actuarial and investment management experience in the South-East Asian Markets with stints at BZW Investment Management, Hong Kong and Watson Wyatt, Singapore. He joined Thanawala Consultancy Services in 1996 and has been the driving force behind the firm’s growth since then.

With a strong base of technical actuarial expertise and knowledge of the accounting standards, he has constantly pushed the envelope and taken on varied assignments over the years in various countries. His ability to logically break-down the rationale behind codifications in accounting standards and guidance notes has enabled him to address the issues faced by the clients and earn respect from the audit community at large. He continues to focus on understanding the client’s needs and aligns the services of the firm to remain relevant and add value to the services the firm provides to its clients.

Harshit Agarwal, FIA, FIAI has qualified with specializations in the “Employee Benefits” and “General Insurance” domains of the actuarial profession. He graduated from the University of Kent in 2014 and started his career at the offshore offices of Deloitte Consulting US Pvt. Ltd. He also gained valuable experience at HDFC ERGO General Insurance Pvt. Ltd. before joining Thanawala Consultancy Services in 2019.

His knowledge on the principles used in the insurance industry coupled with his expertise in employee benefit valuations has helped the firm branch out into other fields of actuarial work. He has married a fresh perspective to the experience present at the firm thereby helping it become more modern, efficient and cost-effective. This has enabled Thanawala Consultancy Services to provide a wider range of consulting services to its clients.
